I was in Leicester for an international meeting and we had dinner with approximately 100 guests. In most cases this means there will be plenty of drinks and food which is lukewarm and bland at best.
Not so for Mem-Saab, first of the staff is very friendly and even with such a huge group service was excellent! The quality of the food was just amazing everything cooked to perfection. The food is spicy but not to spicy and clearly everything is freshly made. A selection of Indian and local beers complimented a great night.
Whenever you're in Leicester try to get a table and enjoy curry as it is supposed to be.

I'm happy to give MemSaab 5 stars! I had my engagement party here and it was a success! We had one of the rooms to ourselves for our group of 20 people. The owner was very helpful to organize the evening for us. We had asked for a separate menu for our guests and Mem-Saab gave us a good deal on the prices and a bit of a discount. We had our own cake which the staff served up for us. The staff seemed experienced, although at times we had to wait around a bit for anyone to come check on us. This is a modern type of Indian restaurant and so is the style of cooking. The chicken is top notch - so juicy! Still remember it! There was also a magician walking around showing some cool tricks at our table. Not the cheapest Indian food in the area, but certainly well worth it if you are looking beyond the traditional Indian cooking.

Amazing and tasty food. We had tandoori ostrich for appetizer, Kangaroo & 2 lamb dishes. The kangaroo was gamey but tasty. The lamb was very soft and succulent. Very elegant ambience, we had an outdoor seating on the deck. Must visit when in Leicester. The service was very personable and the head waiter did a great job explaining why there's little Indian restaurants in Los Angeles. The explanation made sense. The food is authentic and we'll seasoned.

Eating Indian food in Leicester is as common as eating a burger in the States.

This was an impromptu "I'm hungry" stop, between shopping and going to the cinema. We ignored the sushi place next door that serves sushi rolls on a conveyor belt (what??)

The space in here is quite nice, almost fancy looking. I felt a little underdressed, but the staff didn't seem to mind.

I ordered a bellini (peach and champagne) drink. When it came, I saw that there was this massive (like 65%) concentration of peach puree at the bottom of my drink, with the champagne foating atop. When I stirred it, it tasted...gross. Too sweet. Too peachy. They were nice about it though, when I told them I couldn't drink it for those reasons, and opted for what my friend was having. A glass of zinfandel.

When they returned with the glass of wine, it was a completely different color than my friend's...and thus a totally different kind of wine. I hated being THAT person that keeps sending everything back...but..it's not what I ordered!

3rd time's a charm. They came out with the right glass.

The food was very tasty and the perfect portion. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with basmati rice. The chicken was tender and succulent.

When the bill came, they had not included the first 2 drinks, which was very accomodating of them. I'd give this place 3.5 stars if I could. The location is convenient if you happen to be in the area shopping. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to have dinner there on a regular night (if I lived in Leicester).
